A multifaceted photographer specializing in providing excellent quality images & artwork for companies, couples, creatives & more!
Hello!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my site. My Instagram accounts tend to have my latest and greatest work so please check those out as well! You can click the links below.
I understand the importance of a potential client wanting to know more about the personal side of their photographer and their achievements.
I have done a ton of super rad things behind my camera over the last 20 years since I first launched my company in 2001. Countless awards, being published nationally and internationally, ten plus years of being a documentary & feature photographer for Louisville Magazine, working with amazing people like Norman Reedus and AMC, SPIN Magazine, Mojo Magazine to name a few. Those help distinguish me as a photographer but aren’t the most important things about me.
The most important thing about me as a photographer is not how many cool things I have done but that I am a nurturer. I’m a mom. I don’t approach photography as a taking and making situation but more as nurturing a moment, a vision. Nurturing a love displayed before me and giving it back to you as honestly as possible.
I am interested in the real that occurs even in the most posed of situations.
I love what I am able to do for a living and not one day goes by that I take that for granted.
I enjoy every aspect of photography so I do it all. I feel comfortable doing it all so I don’t limit my focus. You probably noticed my website is chalked full of a variety of work. I have clients that have hired me for their engagement sessions, weddings, newborn, business head shots, products shots, album covers for their music the list goes on. I have many clients that have been hiring me for over ten years! I love building life-long relationships with my clients and being able to meet any photography need they may have in life.
I am forever humbled by each client that has trusted and chosen me to be their photographer over last 20 + years! Their love stories, their art projects, their children, their companies, their visions. I am not just a wedding photographer, or a magazine photographer, or food photographer or whatever else niche photographer. I am a nurturer of moments and visions and that is limitless. I would love to be your photographer.
Maybe one day I’ll get official artist portraits made. For the fancy stuff there is an additional bio below.
Mickie is an extremely sought-after regional photographer. She has been hired to photograph musicians like Bela Fleck, My Morning Jacket, Ben Sollee, Jack White, Rachel Grimes, etc. for album covers and magazine editorials. She has worked for SPIN magazine and has been an integral part of Louisville Magazine’s artistic team for more than ten years. For her work at Louisville Magazine, she has won several awards from the Society of Professional Journalism including this years first place for feature photography.
In addition to being an accomplished commercial photographer, she is also well-known for her own independent work; among other exhibitions, she has had a solo exhibition of her photographs at 21C Museum and is in their private collection.
Mickie loves teaching and has taught photography workshops at The University of Louisville, Spalding University, JCC, The Southern Seminary, Union Collage, Zoom Group Studio Works for the developmentally disabled, Assumption High School, and Louisville Home school . She also taught at Ivy Tech, where she was offered the position of head of the photography department.
Mickie understands a digital photography lab and classroom, as she is familiar with the lighting, shooting, editing, and printing of digital photography (she is experienced with Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.). She also has a passion for alternative processes in photography, such as cyanotype, van dyke, and photo transfers, and has experience with teaching workshops about these methods to children teens and adults.
On a personal note: I’ve followed Mickie’s career for many years and I regard her as one of the most talented photographers in the Louisville scene. Her name and work is well known and respected among the art community. She’s also a very nice person.
